Ingredients
- 200 g 200g bangus or tilapia, sliced, or 200g shrimp, peeled
- 1 pc 1 small onion, sliced
- 2 pc 2 medium tomatoes, chopped
- 1 cup 1 cup kalabasa (squash), cubed
- 1 cup 1 cup sitaw (string beans), cut into 2-inch pieces
- 1 pc 1 small ampalaya (bitter gourd), sliced
- 1 bunch 1 bundle kangkong or alugbati leaves
- 2 tbsp 2 tbsp bagoong isda or fish sauce (patis)
- 3 pinch salt and pepper to taste
- 0.5 tsp Pepper, to taste
Instructions
- In a pot, bring the rice-washing water to a boil with onion and tomatoes, and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add the fish or shrimp and cook for 3-5 minutes until just cooked through, then remove and set aside to avoid overcooking.
- Add the squash first and simmer for 8 minutes until nearly tender.
- Add the sitaw and ampalaya, and continue simmering for 5-6 minutes.
- Season with bagoong isda or fish sauce.
- Return the fish or shrimp to the pot to warm through.
- Add the kangkong or alugbati leaves last and simmer briefly for 1 minute until just wilted.
- Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper, and serve hot with steamed rice.
