Ingredients
- 1 kg Tilapia or galunggong, cleaned and sliced or left whole
- 1 thumb Ginger, sliced into strips
- 1 pc Medium onion, sliced
- 3 cloves Garlic, crushed
- 1 pc Small green papaya, peeled and sliced into wedges
- 1 cup Chili leaves (dahon ng sili) or malunggay leaves
- 2 tbsp Fish sauce
- 1 tbsp Cooking oil
- 3 pinch Salt, to taste
- 0.5 tsp Pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pot and sauté garlic, onion, and ginger until fragrant.
- Pour in the rice washing or water and bring to a boil.
- Season with fish sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Add the green papaya wedges and simmer for 5-7 minutes until slightly tender.
- Gently add the fish and simmer for 8-10 minutes until cooked through, avoiding excessive stirring to keep it intact.
- Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Add the chili leaves or malunggay leaves last, and simmer for 1-2 minutes until just wilted.
- Turn off heat and serve hot with steamed rice.
