๐ Orange Chicken

Ingredients
- 600 g 600g chicken thigh fillets, cubed
- 0.5 cup 1/2 cup flour
- 0.25 cup 1/4 cup cornstarch, for dredging
- 1 pc 1 egg, beaten
- 3 cup 3 cups cooking oil, for deep-frying
- 0.75 cup 3/4 cup orange juice, plus zest of 1 orange
- 3 tbsp 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 tbsp 3 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp 2 tbsp vinegar
- 3 clove 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 thumb 1 thumb ginger, minced
- 1 pc 1/2 tsp chili flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp 1 tbsp cornstarch, dissolved in 2 tbsp water, for the sauce
- 1 tsp 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 stalk Chopped spring onions, for garnish
Instructions
- Toss the chicken with a pinch of salt and pepper, coat in flour, dip in beaten egg, then dredge in cornstarch.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and fry the chicken in batches until golden and crisp, about 4 to 5 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
- In a saucepan, combine orange juice and zest, soy sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, garlic, ginger, and chili flakes. Bring to a simmer.
- Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook, stirring, until the sauce thickens and turns glossy.
- Toss the fried chicken in the sauce until evenly coated.
- Drizzle with sesame oil, garnish with chopped spring onions, and serve hot with steamed rice.
