Ingredients
- 1 kg Alimasag (blue crabs), cleaned and halved or quartered
- 2 cups Coconut milk
- 1 cup Coconut cream
- 4 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 pc Medium onion, chopped
- 1 thumb Ginger, julienned
- 2 pc Pieces green finger chili
- 1 cup Malunggay leaves or spinach (optional)
- 1 tbsp Shrimp paste (bagoong alamang), optional
- 2 tbsp Fish sauce
- 1 tbsp Cooking oil
- 3 pinch Salt, to taste
- 0.5 tsp Pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Clean the crabs by removing the top shell, gills, and innards, then cut each crab in half or into quarters.
- Heat oil in a pot and sauté garlic, onion, and ginger until aromatic.
- Pour in the coconut milk and bring to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally.
- Add the crab pieces and shrimp paste if using, then simmer for 10-12 minutes until the crabs turn orange and are cooked through.
- Stir in the coconut cream and simmer for another 3-5 minutes to thicken the sauce.
- Season with fish sauce, salt, and pepper to taste.
- Add the green chili and malunggay leaves, and cook for 1-2 minutes until just wilted.
- Turn off heat and serve hot with steamed rice.
