Ingredients
- 1 kg 1 kg maya-maya, apahap, or bangus, cleaned and sliced into steaks
- 2 thumbs Ginger, sliced thickly
- 1 pc Medium onion, quartered
- 1 bunch Pechay (bok choy), leaves separated
- 1 pc Small cabbage, cut into wedges
- 1 bundle Misua noodles (optional)
- 2 tbsp Fish sauce
- 3 pinch Salt, to taste
- 0.5 tsp Pepper, to taste
Instructions
- In a pot, combine rice washing, ginger, and onion, and bring to a boil.
- Simmer for 5-8 minutes to let the ginger flavor infuse the broth.
- Season the broth with fish sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Gently add the fish steaks and simmer over low-medium heat for 8-10 minutes, without stirring vigorously, until fish is cooked through.
- Add the cabbage wedges and cook for 3-4 minutes until slightly tender.
- Add the misua noodles if using, and cook for 1-2 minutes until softened.
- Add the pechay leaves last, and simmer for 1-2 minutes until just wilted.
- Ladle into bowls, garnish with toasted garlic, and serve hot with rice or on its own as a light soup.
