Ingredients
- 0.9 kg 6 pieces cream dory fillets (about 800g-1kg)
- 1 tsp Salt
- 0.5 tsp Ground black pepper
- 1 tbsp Calamansi juice
- 1 cup All-purpose flour
- 2 pc Pieces eggs, beaten
- 1.5 cups Bread crumbs (panko preferred)
- 2 cup 3 cups cooking oil, for deep frying
- 0.5 cup Mayonnaise (for tartar sauce)
- 2 tbsp Sweet pickle relish (for tartar sauce)
- 1 tbsp Calamansi juice (for tartar sauce)
- 1 tsp Chopped onion (for tartar sauce)
Instructions
- Pat the fish fillets dry and season with salt, pepper, and calamansi juice. Let marinate for 10 minutes.
- Set up a breading station with flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in another, and bread crumbs in a third.
- Dredge each fillet in flour, shaking off excess, then dip into the beaten egg, and finally coat thoroughly with bread crumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to about 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the breaded fillets for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy, and the fish is cooked through.
- Drain on a wire rack or paper towels.
- Meanwhile, prepare the tartar sauce by mixing mayonnaise, pickle relish, calamansi juice, and chopped onion in a small bowl.
- Serve the hot fish fillets with tartar sauce and lemon or calamansi wedges on the side.
